Already Pretty

Have you seen this blog? I love the daily outfit posts and the pieces about body image in women. If you haven't checked it out, do. One of the posts you will especially want to check out this one : http://www.alreadypretty.com/2010/09/defining-your-body.html?spref=fb What touched me about it was learning the lesson that NOBODY's body is like mine. And that alone makes it fantastic. That really resounded with me, really said something I needed to hear.

Why is it so hard to tell ourselves what is good about us? Why is it so easy for us to pick apart every individual facet of our bodies? Why do we know what our flaws are but not the things that make us beautiful?

Tell me? What makes you feel good about yourself? How do you stop the immensely depressing voices in your head that are telling you "you're not good enough? you're too ____ or too ____"?

Dresses, dresses, dresses

At the moment, I'm trying to decide what in the world to wear to a wedding we have coming up in November. I'm hitting up Etsy, this vintage store called Modcloth and I had a gander at Sears too. So many favourites and so much to think about...also, a hubby who MIGHT not be all that enthused about me buying another dress. Thank goodness he loves me. After all, I just bought a new purse...oh, and ordered that jacket and nightie from Avon...and that yoga bag...and those shoes...
Hey, you gotta look good, right?

today's look

Because clothing and shopping delight me, I've decided that today's entry should be dedicated to what I'm wearing today. I've gone with a simple pair of yoga pants that I got at the Real Canadian Superstore (Joe Fresh) in black with a black and grey striped top with exaggerated sleeves, a look I really like (as long as it doesn't go overboard into Anne of Green Gables "puffed sleeves" territory), my cascade front cardigan (what is fast becoming a favourite piece), and my New Balance runners. My New Balance runners are the bane of my wardrobe. I absolutely detest them. They are ugly and they don't go with anything. However, they are a necessity.
My feet are messed up, to say the very least. Since I had children, my feet have spread and I've developed heel spurs and foot pain. I have orthotics and the best shoes for feet like mine are Saucony shoes or New Balance, I'm told. Why, oh why, must women's NB shoes be so damn ugly??? My husband has a decent pair but mine? Ugly. Next time I buy shoes, I'm going to search high and low until I unearth a pair I don't hate.
Don't even get me started about how sad I am that many of my pretty shoes no longer fit. They were so, so pretty. Now I have nothing to go with anything and it's the most frustrating hot mess.
